Literary Bookpost: Our Mission

 Literary Bookpost opened in August, 1998, to serve a need in the Salisbury-Rowan community for a local independent bookstore that serves no specific reading--or corporate--interests.  We opened to encourage and nurture unfettered devotion to independent thinking, community support, and the love of books.  Our Mission is thus:

First, Literary Bookpost is and will remain a bookstore that provides the personality, the purpose, and the passion of an independent, non-corporate purveyor of the finest, carefully-chosen, selection of reading material possible.  We as a shop, and each of our booksellers, is dedicated to the written word in its finest form, and willingly share our passion and knowledge with each member of our reading community.  For us, books are life.

Second, Literary Bookpost is and will remain an active member of the Salisbury-Rowan community, contributing to the quality of life that a small city can provide.  We are ardent supporters of this community through local shopping, active civic involvement, and contribution to the arts which enliven and enrich us all.  To this end, we support to the best of our abilities non-partisan artistic, community, and environmental causes.  We also seek to increase awareness among customers of the need to support their local artists, non-profits, and merchants.

Finally, our Mission is to ensure that the best books are available to you, as quickly as you want them.  We will remain, foremost, a place for bibliophiles to gather and discuss their truest passion:  reading.
